Miracle Park Ribbon-Cutting Is November 19 In Ames
The ceremony celebrates the completion of the project and transfer of ownership from The Ames Foundation to the City of Ames.

Ames Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Barnes Family Inclusive Playground and Rotary Club of Ames Miracle Field at Inis Grove Park, 2500 Duff Ave. The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19.

The ceremony celebrates the completion of the project and transfer of ownership from The Ames Foundation to the City of Ames. The official transfer of ownership will occur at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Following approval of the ownership transfer, the fence will be removed, and the playground will be open to the public.
“So many people are excited to explore the new Miracle League Field and Inclusive Playground because the opportunity it provides for all ages and abilities to come out and play,” said Keith Abraham, Parks and Recreation Director. “We appreciate the tremendous commitment of The Ames Foundation, as well as all the other individuals and organizations who had a role in making this project come to life.”

Due to concerns about COVID-19 transmission, those who attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony are expected to wear a mask and maintain a distance of at least six feet from others at the event. There will be no seating or refreshments. Additionally, the ceremony will be available virtually. The Parks and Recreation Department manages 38 parks and offers approximately 180 athletic, aquatic, instructional, and wellness programs. Indoor programs are provided year-round at the Community Center, Ames/ISU Ice Arena, and Municipal Pool.
