April 1, 2020

The next phase of improvements to Hickory Drive will begin Monday, April 6, weather permitting. The City of Ames has contracted with Manatt’s Inc. to begin pavement removal. Subcontractor On-Track will then repair selected sanitary sewer pipes and replace a manhole and storm sewer intake. Once underground utilities work is complete, Manatt’s will prepare the ground for paving operations. A new asphalt road and concrete driveways will be installed at the end of this phase. Hickory Drive will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. The project is anticipated to be completed by June 12.

In response to concerns regarding COVID-19, the City has instructed inspectors and the contractor to maintain a social distance of at least six feet, use gloves when necessary, and to stay home when they are sick.

Those in the area are encouraged to take note of construction activity and exercise caution in the area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
