Ames seeks applicants for data center study committee (iowastatedaily.com) — Ames is recruiting residents for a new committee to study the environmental impacts of data centers planned near the Ames Municipal Airport, with applications open through Sept. 9. Members will review research on heat, wildlife, and health effects, then deliver a nonbinding report to the City Council early next year to guide future regulations. 
2. News of the Weird: Week of 08/27/26 (memphisflyer.com) — A quick-thinking crew in Ames helped save a distressed kitten trapped behind the grille of a car in a Scooter's Coffee drive-thru, with Ames Animal Shelter and a local towing company teaming up on the rescue. 3.
