Raised Median Construction Begins Monday On South Grand Avenue In Ames

This project is anticipated to take one to two weeks to complete.

Construction of a raised concrete median on South Grand Avenue from South Fourth Street to Squaw Creek Drive will begin Monday, Sept. 21, weather permitting. The City of Ames has contracted with Peterson Contractors Inc. (PCI) to complete this improvement. This project is anticipated to take one to two weeks to complete.

Also beginning Monday, Sept. 21, the southbound lane from South Fourth Street to the new South Fifth Street will be closed to traffic for six to eight weeks as work on the South Fifth Street project continues.

Those living or traveling in the area should use caution around the construction activity and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. As with all paving operations, saw cutting of joints in newly poured pavement is critical and it may be disruptive beyond normal work hours. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
