Reception Set for Outgoing Councilman

A reception to honor outgoing Ames City Council Member Chris Nelson will be held prior to the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The event will be held in the front foyer of the City Council Chambers, second floor of City Hall, 515 Clark Ave. Light refreshments will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m. The City Council meeting will start at 6 p.m.

The public is welcome to attend.

Nelson was first elected as the Ward 4 City Council member on Nov. 5, 2013, and began his first term in 2014. He was re-elected to office and started his second term in 2016. During his tenure, he represented the City of Ames on numerous community boards and commissions.

The final City Council meeting of 2019 is an Ames Plan 2040 workshop scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19. The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020.
