South Fifth Street Extension Starts Tuesday In Ames

The City of Ames has contracted with Peterson Contractors Inc. (PCI) to begin these improvements.

Construction will begin Tuesday to extend South Fifth Street from South Grand Avenue to South Duff Avenue. The City of Ames has contracted with Peterson Contractors Inc. (PCI) to begin these improvements. The first step involves removing trees and debris from the site. Expect trucks to be entering and leaving on South Fifth Street, South Walnut Avenue, South Grand Avenue, and Squaw Creek Drive.

This phase of the project is anticipated to take one to two weeks to complete.There will be no lane closures necessary. Those living or traveling in the areas should use caution around the construction activity and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
