United Way of Story County, Raising Readers in Story County and the Ames Public Library are coming together to celebrate National Summer Learning Day! Summer Learning Day is a national advocacy day recognized to spread awareness about the importance of summer learning for our nation’s youth in helping close the achievement gap and support healthy development in communities all across the country. The event will run from 4:30-6 p.m. Friday, June 20 at Brookside Park. There will be over a dozen stations coinciding with the Library's summer theme, "Fizz, Boom, Read!" The Bookmobile will be attending along with library mascot, Smyles. The Fire Department will be there to give tours of an engine and to answer any questions. Most stations will be targeted towards kids in preschool through middle school but there will be activities for all ages! Come out June 20th and celebrate summer learning with the community!
