Welch Avenue will remain closed to through traffic from Lincoln Way to Chamberlain Street until the pavement markings are complete. Access to the CVS/Kingland parking lot will also be limited during this work. The Welch Avenue project will be substantially completed after the painting of pavement markings, and construction activities will be finished for the winter. Due to cold temperatures, work will resume in the spring to plant perennials and trees.
The entire project included replacing original infrastructure that is more than a century old, along with Welch Avenue pavement reconstruction and water quality improvements. Special features of the new Welch Avenue include bike lanes in both travel lanes, permeable pavers and tree trenches for improved stormwater management, and extended sidewalks.
