• Tap water study finds nitrate levels can vary widely across neighborhoods — even in the same city (iowapublicradio.org) — A Cedar Falls-based environmental scientist found that nitrate levels in tap water can vary widely from neighborhood to neighborhood, including in Cedar Falls, even when all samples stayed below federal limits. Cedar Falls and Waterloo utilities say local geology and well locations drive those differences, and the researcher hopes the findings spark community conversations about long-term solutions to nitrate pollution.
