• Cultural Latino Week brought inclusivity back to Iowa City with its opening act Entretejiendo Corazones (dailyiowan.com) — Cultural Latino Week is underway across Iowa City, with performances, dance, music, and food events running through Sept. 19 at venues like the James Theater and the Ped Mall. Organizers and performers say the opening show, Entretejiendo Corazones, set an intimate, high-energy tone aimed at celebrating Latino heritage while inviting all community members to share their own stories.
   

• Iowa City man accused of assaulting woman involved in a no-contact order with him (1630kcjj.com) — An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday morning on Finkbine Lane after police say they found him actively fighting with a woman protected by a no-contact order, who had visible facial injuries. The 40-year-old faces charges of domestic abuse assault second offense and assault against a protected person, and could receive up to seven years in prison if convicted, while the no-contact order remains in effect indefinitely.
   

• UNI, University of Iowa to honor Parker Sutherland at game, family plans foundation (kcrg.com) — In Iowa City this Saturday, UNI and the University of Iowa will honor late City High graduate and UNI football player Parker Sutherland during their game at Kinnick Stadium. His family is channeling their grief into a new foundation focused on sudden cardiac arrest awareness, CPR and AED education, and possibly future legislation to expand heart screenings.
