Roger Marshall tours Topeka Fire Department, talks grants (kansas.com) — Topeka residents may see safer fire responses thanks to a new federal grant helping train about 120 firefighters in advanced incident command. During a visit to the Topeka Fire Department, Sen. Roger Marshall discussed this funding, equipment delays, cancer risks from firefighting chemicals, and recent changes to retirement and Social Security rules that affect local public safety workers.
   

2. Topeka police investigate shooting at a parking lot at Sam's Club (kansas.com) — A man suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds Friday afternoon in the northwest parking lot of the Sam's Club on SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka, and police say a suspect is already in custody. Investigators are asking Topekans to share any information or tips by contacting the Topeka Police Criminal Investigation Bureau or Shawnee County Crime Stoppers, including through the P3 Tips website.
