• 'Why can't they trust us?': Flock cameras on campus cause concerns among students (thesunflower.com) — Flock license plate cameras are now widely used around Wichita, including 19 on Wichita State's campus, raising sharp privacy concerns among students. Local misuse cases and a lawsuit against the city over Flock's "warrantless surveillance" fuel skepticism, even as WSU police say the system helps investigations and new safeguards are planned for 2027. 
• 31-year-old Wichita landscaper dies after being hit by vehicle in Derby (kansas.com) — A 31-year-old Wichita landscaper, Ricky Elsen Jr., died after being struck by a northbound vehicle while working with a crew along South Rock Road near Country View Drive in Derby. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died, and Derby police say the cooperating driver and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
