• Man charged in Berea bank shooting waived rights to preliminary hearing (wymt.com) — A man accused in the deadly shooting at a Berea U.S. Bank has waived his right to a preliminary hearing and remains in federal custody as a flight and safety risk. He faces serious federal charges, including armed bank robbery and causing death with a firearm, in connection with the April 30 killings of two bank employees in Berea.

• 2026 National STEM Scholars Announced; Ten Middle School Teachers Nationwide Selected for Prestigious Program (prweb.com) — A Berea educator, Kate Tran of B. Michael Caudill Middle School in nearby Richmond, has been named one of just ten 2026 National STEM Scholars nationwide. She’ll join other middle school science teachers for intensive training at WKU’s Gatton Academy later this month, aimed at boosting STEM engagement among students and sharing new strategies with colleagues back home.
