Bri Barrett Joins Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation

Brianna “Bri” Barrett has joined the Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation as Chief Development Officer. Barrett, who began at the Foundation in November, has more than 16 years of experience in the non-profit sector.

Barrett most recently worked as Senior Director of Philanthropy at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Calf. Prior to Scripps, she held various development roles in the sciences at the University of California, Riverside, her alma mater, where she received a bachelor’s degree in art history. Barrett began her fundraising career in museum education and historical preservation.

In addition to Barrett, the Foundation announced that Andre Greene, Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation Chief Financial Officer, will now serve as the interim CEO, while a search takes place for a permanent CEO.

The mission of Pennington Biomedical Research Foundation is to support the work of LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center, which aims to discover the triggers of chronic diseases through innovative research that improves human health across the lifespan.

Over the last 30 years, Pennington Biomedical’s world-renowned scientists have made remarkable discoveries that have improved the way Americans exercise, eat, age, and think about obesity, diabetes, dementia and other chronic diseases.

The Pennington Biomedical Research Center is at the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the triggers of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia. Pennington Biomedical has the vision to lead the world in promoting metabolic health and eliminating metabolic disease through scientific discoveries that create solutions from cells to society.
