Hurricane Harvey Louisiana: Evacuations, Rescues Around Calcasieu Parish

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office reportedly rescued residents in Sulpher and Iowa. Some evacuations were made in Vinton.

VINTON, LA — Some residents in the Calcasieu Parish town of Vinton were evacuated as heavy rains from Tropical Storm Harvey — formerly Hurricane Harvey — pound the region and flood streets.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office was evacuating residents, according to a Twitter account associated with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. The evacuations come as streets have flooded in the area. Interstate 10 West was also closed at mile marker 4, before the Louisiana/Texas state line, due to flooding in Texas.
