New Orleans residents call for Constance Street pothole repairs (wdsu.com) — Drivers on Constance Street in New Orleans say deep, sharp-edged potholes between Julia and St. Joseph are wrecking suspensions and draining wallets, despite repeated complaints. After residents spoke out, the city added the location to its 311 system and noted more than 15,000 potholes have been filled this year under its Smooth Streets initiative.
   

2. New Orleans firefighters battle blaze in Uptown home Thursday (nola.com) — Firefighters shut down several blocks of Napoleon Avenue Thursday night while battling a three-alarm house fire in Uptown New Orleans, though no one was found inside. Crews kept the blaze from spreading to nearby homes, and one cat was treated and taken for further care as smoke lingered over the surrounding blocks.
   

3. Neighbors concerned about 6-foot-deep hole on Amelia Street left by Sewerage and Water Board (fox8live.com) — Neighbors on Amelia Street in New Orleans are worried about a 6-foot-deep hole the Sewerage and Water Board dug more than a year ago and still hasn't properly secured or filled. The utility says it's waiting on a nearby homeowner to replace a private sewer fitting, but residents argue the open pit is a serious public safety risk for children, drivers, and anyone walking the block.
   

4. New Orleans flood authority gets new police chief (wwltv.com) — Leadership of the New Orleans-area levee police forces is changing as veteran officer Joseph Picone is sworn in to head the Orleans and East Jefferson Levee District police departments. The move comes the same day the Southeast Flood Protection Authority-East formally fired former chief Joshua Rondeno, who is suing over his termination and severance package.
   

5. Years after Ida, Louisiana's insurance market shows signs of recovery (wwltv.com) — From New Orleans's insurance commissioner says the state's battered homeowners market is finally showing early signs of recovery five years after Hurricane Ida. More insurers are applying to write policies and some rates are dipping, but premiums here remain among the nation's highest, leaving many residents still straining to cover basic coverage costs.
