The utility says it's waiting on a nearby homeowner to replace a private sewer fitting, but residents argue the open pit is a serious public safety risk for children, drivers, and anyone walking the block.

New Orleans flood authority gets new police chief (wwltv.com) — Leadership of the New Orleans-area levee police forces is changing as veteran officer Joseph Picone is sworn in to head the Orleans and East Jefferson Levee District police departments. The move comes the same day the Southeast Flood Protection Authority-East formally fired former chief Joshua Rondeno, who is suing over his termination and severance package.
