Investigators say security footage helped Jefferson Parish deputies quickly identify and charge the workers, highlighting the importance of checking bags carefully after flights.
   

2. Crews fill two sinkholes near the Fair Grounds (wdsu.com) — Two dangerous sinkholes on Verna Court near the Fair Grounds have been filled after a six-year-old briefly fell in during weekend flooding, prompting an urgent call to the City. New Orleans officials say the block is part of a major FEMA-funded infrastructure project, and Councilmember Aimee McCarron plans talks with the Sewerage and Water Board to secure construction sites before more rain.

Early Betting Odds For The 2026 WWE Money In The Bank PLE (rajah.com) — New Orleans wrestling fans can look ahead to WWE's 2026 Money in the Bank event coming to the Smoothie King Center on Saturday, October 10, with early betting odds already posted. Favorites include Bron Breakker and Roxanne Perez in the ladder matches and Roman Reigns heavily favored to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, promising a high-profile night of action downtown.
   

4. Grammy-nominated quartet helps St. Charles students find voice through art at Lafon Performing Arts Center (fox8live.com) — Students from nearby St. Charles Parish high schools recently collaborated with Grammy-nominated musicians at the Lafon Performing Arts Center, creating artwork inspired by live performances. Next, the center will host New Orleans-area school groups for "The Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System" Oct. 19–20, with a public show on Oct. 18, giving local families another arts option just outside the city.
