🌱 Rejected Gun Control Proposal + Lower Lafitte Boil Water Advisory

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Happy Wednesday, neighbors! Let's get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.

First, today's weather:

Breezy in the morning. High: 81 Low: 72.

Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. A proposal for New Orleans to adopt more gun control measures was overwhelmingly rejected by the House Panel that convened in Baton Rouge on Tuesday. The new measure included rules that required the loss of firearms to be reported to police and would prohibit openly carrying a firearm at public events that require government permits and at places where alcohol is being served. The Criminal Justice Committee voted 9-1 against these proposed measures. (BRProud.com)
  2. A 7-year-old girl was struck by a dirty needle she found while playing on her school's playground. The girl is receiving preventative HIV treatment while the school is under fire for not inspecting and cleaning their playground. (WWLTV.com)
  3. A boil water advisory has been issued for some areas in Lower Lafitte on Jean Lafitte Boulevard. The advisory is the result of low pressure caused by a contractor boring a gas line that damaged the water main. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.(WDSU New Orleans)
