Appeals court says New Orleans magistrate judge can stay in race (nola.com) — A state appeals court has cleared Orleans Parish Magistrate Judge Juana Marine Lombard to stay on the ballot, reversing a lower court that tried to disqualify her over a tax-return dispute. The ruling keeps the current magistrate race on track for the November 3, 2026 election, though challengers may still appeal to the Louisiana Supreme Court.
   

2. Dominican New Orleans Consulate Reviews Yanina Torres Tenure (worldstockmarket.net) — New Orleans' Dominican consulate highlighted Consul General Rosa Yanina Torres Tamares' 2024–26 tenure, including a new Sister Cities agreement with Puerto Plata and cultural exchanges with the New Orleans Jazz Museum. 3. First responders honor 9/11 firefighters with New Orleans stair climb (fox8live.com) — Local first responders and volunteers in New Orleans climbed 78 flights at Benson Tower to honor the firefighters and victims of 9/11, then read individual names of those lost. Participants cooled down at a memorial for Louisiana's fallen first responders, and organizers are already inviting residents to register online for next year's New Orleans Memorial Stair Climb.
   

4. Javier Retamales: Can Messaging Apps Transform End-of-Life Cancer Care Research? (oncodaily.com) — A resident doctor at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is helping test how familiar messaging apps and a chatbot can better capture end-of-life experiences from bereaved caregivers in Chile. His newly published study, supported by cancer research groups, suggests this tech-driven approach could make sensitive data collection more inclusive and respectful, with lessons that may eventually inform care far beyond Latin America.
