You'll see a state police helicopter, fire department Smoke House, and plenty of police equipment up close while the Slidell Police Association serves jambalaya, hot dogs, and pizza. It's a relaxed way to meet officers and neighbors together.

2. 2814 Lakeshore Vista Blvd, Slidell, LA 70461 (redfin.com) — A planned unit development zoning designation is being applied to 2814 Lakeshore Vista Blvd in Slidell, outlining how the property can mix residential and commercial uses with flexible design standards. The rules emphasize flood‑resistant, environmentally sensitive planning, varied housing types, and cohesive site design, which could shape future development and neighborhood character around that address.

3. St. Tammany Public Schools superintendent Frank Jabbia retires (fox8live.com) — St. Tammany Parish Public Schools Superintendent Frank Jabbia is retiring after more than three decades in the parish school system, a major change for families and staff in Slidell-area schools. 4. 'We'll never hear that Stackman sound again' (thelensnola.org) — Legendary New Orleans saxophonist Elliott "Stackman" Callier was laid to rest with a military burial at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, drawing fellow musicians who honored him with a brass procession. The story celebrates his decades of performances with icons like Fats Domino, his larger‑than‑life personality, and the deep sense of loss felt by family, friends, and the music community.

5. Retiring in Louisiana? These are the 6 best places to do says US News (shreveporttimes.com) — Slidell earns a spot among Louisiana's best places to retire, praised for its relatively low cost of living, roughly 29,000 residents, and a median household income just over $69,000.
