University of New England installs radar system to measure wave height in Saco Bay (sacobaynews.com) — Researchers are now using a new radar system in Saco Bay to measure wave heights and track how a new Army Corps spur jetty off the Saco Jetty affects erosion at Camp Ellis. UNE scientists, local advocates, and tech partners will combine radar, gauges, and buoys to better understand wave dynamics and help keep more sand on Camp Ellis beaches. 
2. Local Spotlight: Tim Fleury (sacobaynews.com) — Old Orchard Beach's interim town manager is working with Saco officials on long-term fixes for the dangerous Halfway intersection and a major traffic project that will need both councils' approval. He's also advancing marsh resiliency, new monitoring with UNE, Ballpark upgrades, and the possibility of a new OOB school that could affect nearby Saco families.
3. Army Corps' CAPs Receive $33.1M Despite Budget Request for Zero (legis1.com) — Federal budget documents show that, even as the Trump administration sought no money for certain Army Corps programs, Congress still funded them and previously backed a $23 million shoreline protection project at Camp Ellis in Saco. That Section 111 effort is part of a broader national push to support flood control and erosion work despite proposed cuts.
4. Maine legislators urge MaineHealth to reassess closure of Lincoln Hospital's maternity unit (newscentermaine.com) — State Sen. Donna Bailey of Saco convened a legislative committee meeting to push MaineHealth to reassess closing Lincoln Hospital's maternity unit and to explore ways to protect maternal care statewide. Lawmakers are seeking emergency funding for another health provider and considering legislation to ensure more notice and oversight when labor and delivery units shut down.
