$8 Million Available in Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance
My HOME and My HOME II Program

The My HOME program offers $$$ incentives to buy a home in Prince George's County. Up to 5% of home sale price (through My HOME) or up to $20k (through My HOME II) to qualified homebuyers who have not owned a home within the last 3 years.

 

Up to $35,000 for Those who Work and Buy a Home in College Park

Homebuyers who buy their home and work in College Park may be eligible to receive up to $35,000 in closing cost and down payment assistance through the WORK & LIVE COLLEGE PARK program.

$2,000 Bowie Mortgage Assistance

Are you a police officer, teacher or Bowie City employee? Here's a great program which can give you a $2,000 grant when buying a primary residence in Bowie.

 

DEPUTY SHERIFFS, AND COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL POLICE OFFICERS SAVE
ON TRANSFER TAXES WHEN BUYING A NEW HOME

Police FIRST TIME Homebuyers - Eliminates the County transfer tax of 1.4% for Prince George's County Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs, and municipal police Officers serving local communities in the County WHO ARE FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS.

Maryland Veterans Homeownership Initiative for Prince George's County
Closing Costs plus Down Payment Incentives

This new program will provide up to all closing costs plus a 20% down payment in the form of a zero percent deferred loan to qualified Veterans

 

Down Payment Savings from FHLB Atlanta Bank:
Up to a $15,000 Savings for Homebuyers

Down payment and closing cost savings are available to homebuyers through two new programs. These programs are available through a number of local and national banks which are part of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (FHLBank Atlanta) network. These two programs do NOT require you to be a first-time homebuyer.

American Dream Downpayment Initiative (ADDI) Program
for Prince George's County Homebuyers

The American Dream Downpayment Initiative ("ADDI") provides downpayment and closing cost assistance to families earning up to 80% of the area median income who are first-time homebuyers (or have not owned a home in the last 3 years) for the purchase of single-family housing that will serve as the family's principal residence. The ADDI program is a 5-year forgivable loan at 0% interest of up to $10,000 for downpayment and/or closing costs

Buy Suitland Initiative

The Buy Suitland Initiative will award 0% interest grants to households who have not owned a home within the last 3 years, and are buying a home as their principal residence, 35% of the purchase price of home or $40,000 whichever is greater, as needed.

This mortgage program offers the same reduced interest rates starting at 2.875% (APR 3.675%) and is available while funds last. Veterans, First-time homebuyers and current homeowners buying a new primary residence are eligible if they buy in a Targeted Area of Prince George's County or the State of Maryland.

 

Special Benefits for Military Personnel and Veterans Homebuyers

Maryland Homefront will benefit qualified current and former military members with a discounted mortgage interest rate and increased down payment assistance in the purchase of a home. Additionally, this program is a $50 million initiative offering half a percent rate discount off the regular MMP rate for loans

 

Tax Credits for Laurel Foreclosed Home Buyers
City of Laurel Tax Credit Program

The City of Laurel recently passed legislation adopting a tax credit program for purchasers of foreclosed homes within the City of Laurel, Maryland.

Now in effect, the legislation offers a five-year descending City tax credit of up to $3500 for buyers purchasing their primary residence within Laurel City limits. Under the program, eligible buyers will receive credit for 100% of their City property taxes up to $3500 for two years following purchase. In subsequent years, three to five, the credit will decrease to 75%, 50%, and 25% respectively.

USDA LOANS

USDA loans are primarily used to help low-income individuals or households purchase homes in rural areas. Funds can be used to build, repair, renovate or relocate a home, or to purchase and prepare sites, including providing water and sewage facilities.

Eligibility: Applicants for direct loans from HCFP must have very low or low incomes.

Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP)

The Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP) enables lower-and moderate-income individuals and families to purchase affordable housing in Washington, D.C. Qualified HPAP applicants can receive up to $44,000 in financial assistance to purchase single-family houses, condominiums and cooperative apartments. HPAP funds can be used for acquisition assistance and/or closing costs.

How much assistance is available?

The total amount of financial assistance for acquisition provided to very low-, low-, and moderate-income eligible households shall not exceed $40,000 based upon household income,
