AACPS Announces Schedule Changes For Monday
The severe weather moving into the region has forced Anne Arundel County Public Schools to change how classes will operate on Monday.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Anne Arundel County Public Schools announced schedule changes for Monday as forecasts show bands of severe weather moving into the region.
All schools will operate under two-hour early dismissal protocols.
The school system explained that the schedule adjustment was made "due to the forecast for severe and dangerous weather, including potential tornadoes in the afternoon."

Forecasters are warning that the area will experience significant thunderstorms, hail, potential tornadoes and wind gusts of about 75 mph across the region.

"Meteorologists are sounding the alarm for a widespread multiday severe risk stretching across the central and eastern United States from Sunday afternoon into Monday," Accuweather said. "Over a dozen states will be at risk for severe thunderstorms."
The school district said that all students "will be transported home via normal routes at dismissal times that are two hours earlier than normal."

How Will The Schedule Change Impact Programs?
- Afternoon half-day Early Childhood Special Education programs are canceled.
- Both afternoon Center of Applied Technology programs and JROTC events are canceled.
- All school field trips for Monday are canceled.
- Magnet extended day programs, extracurricular activities and all evening high school classes are canceled.
