Annapolis Mall Fight Reported on Black Friday
The county executive was among those in the mall Friday afternoon during lockdown.

UPDATED (5:40 p.m.)—A fight broke out at the Westfield Annapolis Mall food court on Black Friday, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, arousing fears among shoppers and temporarily disrupting mall activities.
The food court was the scene of the altercation, where those involved flipped tables and “glass broke, simultaneous with a loud bang,” the police department reported.
The noise prompted false reports that there had been a shooting.

Shoppers were briefly locked in stores during the scare, according to ABC 2 News.
Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman tweeted that she was in the mall as the events unfolded.

“Impressive work from @AACOPD,” Neuman wrote. “I was in mall on lockdown and they had everything under control in minutes!”
In a report just before 4:45 p.m., police said the mall was open and operating as normal.
This was the second year in a row that a fight has been reported in the Annapolis mall on Black Friday. Last year, two women attacked a 17-year-old at Victoria’s Secret, Annapolis Patch reported. They were later identified and charged with assault and have been sentenced to probation.

(Original report from 4:40 p.m.)—A fight was reported at the Westfield Annapolis Mall on Black Friday, according to WJZ.
The fight was between two juveniles and resulted in some areas of the mall being locked down, police told WNEW.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department reported that there were no shots fired during the altercation.
