ANNAPOLIS, MD—With over two feet of snow covering Anne Arundel County in some places and plows working overtime, it would be easy to lock your doors, close the curtains and ride out the storm, but some outstanding residents are stepping out to lend their neighbors a hand.

We asked Patch Readers if they’ve noticed any snow-melting acts of kindness in their neighborhoods. These are their stories:
- “Our neighbor Jason Tracy started later Friday night and cleared the street with his snow blower. Started again early this morning helping some of our elderly neighbors. He continued to help us out of shape neighbors make headway in this storm. All in all 9 neighbors driveways cleared. Oh and he played with his young kids and ours. Brittingham is lucky to have him!”
- “My Neighborhood Was Fantastic. Many Helped Above And Beyond. Very Thankful.”
- “I woke up Saturday morning and looked out the upstairs window and saw my neighbors Garrett and Castle shoveling my car out. I went downstairs to ask them what are you doing. They responded with we want to make sure you can get out of you need to. Feeling blessed.”
- “Live in Crofton front door snow piled high. Neighbor’s kids came over on their own & cleaned my walk”
- “Only one neighbor--and he’s moving! There were only three of us out there breaking our backs to begin with”
- “I have a neighbor Richard, that by 8 AM had used the snowblower on my drive and shoveled the porch also.”
- “My husband and I live in the community of Chartridge. It’s a wonderful neighborhood in Severna Park that offers so much for families. Along with all its amenities, one of the things I have valued most while living here are the caring people living around us. We have often had help with our leaves and snow in the past, but this year it has been especially important. My husband is now disabled, so caring for our home can sometimes be difficult. I am still pretty able, but even I have limits because of a bad knee these days. Last night before going to bed, my husband and I looked out front and discovered that someone was in the court using a snowblower, and he cleared off our sidewalks and a good part of our driveway. Then this morning before I had a chance to get out there to try and do some shoveling because the snow had accumulated to over a foot, my neighbor to the right of our home, Tom Ryan, had already cleared our driveway, sidewalk, and walkway to the house! That made it easy for me to just have to push the snow to keep the pathways open in the afternoon. After dinner, my husband and I looked out the window and saw that our neighbors to the left of our house, the Bozels, were outside using their snowblower to clear our driveway and sidewalks once again. We are so grateful to neighbors like ours! They are the absolute best, and show the best example of what community truly is!”
