Arrest Made in Glen Burnie Man's Murder: Police

An acquaintance was charged Wednesday with gunning down a Glen Burnie man in July, Anne Arundel County Police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Glen Burnie man has been charged with murder for the July shooting death of Donta Duane Collins, 22, of Glen Burnie, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Collins was found by police the evening of July 31 with a gunshot wound to his upper body, lying in a parking lot in the 400 block of Hideaway Loop in Glen Burnie.

Collins was taken to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Suspect Marc Terrell Hill Jr., 22, from the 400 block of Watson Court in Glen Burnie, was arrested Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, handgun on a person, and firearm use in a crime of violence. Police say Hill and Collins knew one another.

Collins' mother commented on the arrest on the police department's Facebook page, thanking police for their work.

"I truly thank God for Anne Arundel County Police department for the work that was put in for justice for my son and our family," wrote KeKe Collins. "This is only the beginning but I thank you!!"

Anne Arundel County homicide detectives say this was not a random act of violence. The department has offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Collins' murder.
