Hurricane Dorian: Wind Warning Issued For Chesapeake Bay Bridge
The Maryland Transportation Authority has issued a wind warning for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which could cause traffic issues Friday.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The Maryland Transportation Authority issued a wind warning for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Friday, Sept. 6, likely stemming from Hurricane Dorian as it moves up the Atlantic Coast.
Southern Maryland is expected to experience winds strong enough to topple trees the next two days, Patch reported. Dorian was pinpointed about 270 miles south-southwest of Ocean City after 5:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, according to the National Hurricane Center. A tropical storm warning includes the Chesapeake Bay bordering Calvert County, which could see wind gusts of 40 miles per hour throughout the afternoon, the Maryland Emergency Management Agency reported before 10 a.m. Friday.
Officials warn that drivers on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge may experience delays during this afternoon's rush hour as two-way traffic is now prohibited. Officials will monitor weather conditions and implement two-way operations if it's deemed safe to do so. At this point, there are no plans to close any Maryland toll facilities.

A wind warning means drivers of the following vehicles should use extra caution: house trailers, box trailers, motorcycles, vehicles with roof-mount racks containing cargo or any other vehicle that may be subject to high winds. Officials urge drivers to keep travel speeds down and both hands on the steering wheel during these conditions. Speed limits are based on normal road and weather conditions, not hazardous road conditions. Wind gusts are unpredictable, the department noted.
