O's From the Booth 6/9 - Arrieta Roughed Up as O's Drop First Game to Phils 9-6.

O's recap.

Good morning O's fans.  I have not had the chance to blog the last couple nights. This comes with some mixed emotions.  The O's take two-of-three in Fenway to remain in first place and come home to face the struggling foes from the north Philadelphia Phillies.

Jake Arrieta was trying to rebound from his last six bad outings.  The only rebounding there was the ball rebounding off the Phillies bats as they roughed Jake up for nine runs on 11 hits in four innings.Buck had to let him go four innings as Matusz only went two the night before in Boston.

The O's showed some heart and tried to battle back but lost the slug fest 9-6.

This is not good news for the Orioles as the bullpen has been the strength of this team.  Earlier in the year the year starters were going six plus innings and the bullpen only had to come in in the later innings.  The bullpen will deplete real fast if the Orioles starters can't get out of the third and fourth innings.

Brian Matusz looked awful in Boston Thursday as he did not make it out of the thrd inning. He walked five batters in two-plus innings.  His mechanics to me looked awful.  He was not following through and his left leg was just flaying in the air as he came around.  It looked like he was just throwing the ball.  I hope this was just a bad day for Brian and he can rebound on his next start.

As far as Arrieta is concerned, I think it is time the O's have to make a decision. He needs to go back down to the minors and figure out what is going wrong.  He has options left. Zach Britton is off the DL now and we could see him in an Orioles uniform in the next week.

Brian Roberts could also be returning in the next week or so. The O's have some decisions to make with Robert Andino as well. I would love to see the O's trade for a starter like Bartolo Colon who may be available or a Ryan Dempster. They need a veteran ace to help this young staff if they want to continue to stay in this race.

The O's unfortunately dropped from first to third place in one night as the Rays and the Yankees both won.  The O's are only a game out but trail the Yankees by a half game as well.

The O's recalled Tommy Hunter to make Saturday's start as the O's try to rebound and even the series. The Phils will counter with Vance Worley who is 3-2 with a ERA of 3.38.  The O's need to get this one today to set up the rubber match on Sunday.  The key is winning series and we have not done too much of that lately.  Lets get this one today!!!!  Let's Go O's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
