O's From the Booth - May 17, 2012 - O's Sweep in KC

O's and KC Royals game recap and comments.

Good evening O's fans and what another fine evening it is.

The O's win a business man special this afternoon and sweep the mini two game series from the Royals.  They did it again in come from behind fashion.  This time they came back from a 3 run deficit.

Brian Matusz pitched 6 innings to earn his 3rd victory of the season working his record to 3-4.  He had one bad inning where Kansas City bunched together 4 runs on 5 hits.  Brian was able to settle down and get through 6 innings.  He was effective enough to get the victory today and making strides in the right direction.

The offense was able to help him out.  Adam Jones hit his 13th home run of the season making it 3-2.  He did not hit his 13th home run last year until the end of June.  You can just see how confident he is at the plate.  The Orioles need to get him signed NOW!!!

The O's had a big 7th inning to take the lead for good. Wilson Betemit lead off with a single and Chris Davis followed with a single for his 3rd hit of the game.  I hope he starts hitting like he was in the beginning of the year.

Andino flies out and Flaherty tried to bunt his way on but was not successful. Exposito walked and Avery walked to drive in Betemit to tie the game.  Up comes J.J. Hardy.  J.J. singled to right field driving in two runs giving the Orioles a 5-3 lead.

The O's Bullpen pitched 3 more scoreless innings tonight with Strop, Ayala, and Johnson coming in again to close it out for his 14th save in 14 tries and 21 in a row dating back to last year.  Incredible.

This team has now won 7 consecutive road games and are 13-5 over all on the road, the best in the MLB.  They also have the best record in the American League right now at 25-14.  They are finding ways to win all the time and it is coming from different spots in the line up.

Adam Jones is on a tear and should be a All Star along with Matt Wieters and Jason Johnson at this point.   I am looking forward to what should be a great battle of the Parkway this weekend for the MASN Cup!!!  Let's hope Jake Arrieta can get back to his winning ways tomorrow night.  Go O's!!!!!!!!!!!!!
