O's From the Booth - O's Drop Game One to Angels 7-3.

O's game thoughts

Good evening O's fans .The O's dropped one Tuesday night to the Angels 7-3.  I am going to do things a little different than normal.  Instead of going through the game recap as I am sure most of you are aware of what happened anyway.  I just want to give some thoughts.

Obviously Brian Matusz was not good.  He looked like a minor league pitcher in a major league game.  He allowed 13 hits and five runs in five innings.  He really needs to be demoted. He is inconsistent, he has no command of his pitches and I do not feels the team feels any type of confidence when he is on the mound.

They seriously need to think about his near future. I would like to see Brian sent down and bring Tillman up to see what he can do. Can he be any worse?

Now, on the other hand, the offense has just been terrible. They scored five runs in four games against the Nationals and lucked out to win two-of-three. The Orioles starters are under so much pressure to be perfect right now. If they give up more than one run they will lose.  The O's offense is just not producing right now. T

hey are two for their last 41 with runners in scoring position.  They truly need Markakis back in the line up.  He was not tearing the cover off the ball but it will help Jones and Wieters in the middle of that lineup.

I think Hardy needs to drop to the six spot and maybe put Markakis in the two-hole upon his return.  They need to do something to jump start this offense.

The Yankees are starting to open up a gap as they will now lead the O's by four games as they just continue towin. I am trying to stay as optimistic as possible as I truly feel this team will hit.  There is just no consistency to the line up day to day due to injuries.

We will see what happens but if this offense does not turn around they will be a .500 team by the all star break.  Let's see if Hammel can come out tomorrow and get the O's a split in this two-game series.  Let's get this train back on track, Go O's!!!!
