O's From the Booth Saturday July 14. O's Come Back to Beat Tigers in Crazy Finish at the Yard

O's and Tigers game recap

Good evening Orioles fans and O what a evening it was. I was unable to write last night as some of my friends may tell you.  I was not in good writing shape last night!!!!!  I was lucky enough today to be at the game today with my buddy Will Polyniak (name creator of O's From the Booth) and his father in law Bob. What a great time it was. This game was a game of ups and downs.   The O's take a 4-1 lead into the 9th inning and had a great pitched game by Wei-Yen Chen.  He pitched 6 solid innings only giving up one run. Jim Johnson who has been lights out this year with 25 saves just did not have it today. He was hurt by a should be double play ball but Ryan Flaherty let the ball eat him up and gave the Tigers life.  They went on to score 3 runs to tie the game and send it to extras.   Nick Markakis supplied a lot of offense today with 3 doubles.  This is the Nick Markakis we all know, a doubles machine.  Adam Jones had three hits including a game tying single in the 11th inning.  The Orioles have seemed to live and die by the long ball this year.  Today they got homers from Andino, Hardy, and newcomer Taylor Teagarden.  J.J. Hardy was 0-28 until the bottom of the 13th inning when he erased that with a bomb into the left field seats to tie the game at 6.  Thome struck out, and then Adam Jones was hit by a pitch. This brought up Taylor Teagarden. After striking out in his first at bat, he drills a opposite field shot off the top of the grounds crew fence in right field for a home run. The O's sent the home crowd into a frenzy!!! Teagarden was greeted at the plate and mobbed by his team mates.  He then got the shaving cream pie treatment from Jones, Andino, and Reynolds.  This was a huge come back win for the Orioles as this would have been a devastating loss after being up 4-1 in the 9th.                   That is one thing you can say about this team.  They never quit.  They have a lot of holes on this team and that is not going to go away until the Orioles can make some moves to fix them.  The one thing that they do have is heart.  They always believe they can win and that starts with Buck Showalter getting them to believe in themselves.  Adam Jones also brings a lot of spirit to this team.  In the top of the 11th when the Tigers took the lead Adam Jones was very fired up with frustration in center field.  I don't know if you saw this on TV but he was yelling something and then slapped his glove.  He then comes up in the bottom of the inning and gets the game tying hit.  It is the fire like this that I love to see in a player.  Let's see if the O's can carry this momentum into tomorrow's game.  They are going to need to fire on all cylinders tomorrow as they will be facing Tiger ace, and maybe the best pitcher in baseball in Justin Verlander.  Lets see of the O's can knock him around like he was in the all star game and win this series.  This would be great for this team that has been struggling of late.  Lets get this done tomorrow O's!!!!! Let's Go O's.
