Celebrate Maryland Farmers Market Week In Anne Arundel County

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — From farm fresh eggs to homegrown produce, baked goodies, pasture-raised meat and more, local farmers markets across Anne Arundel County are brimming with delicious and healthy foods. Maryland Farmers Market Week falls Aug. 4-10 and Gov. Larry Hogan is encouraging residents to check out their local farmers market.

“Maryland farmers offer a variety of in-season produce at farmers markets around the state,” said Maryland Agriculture Secretary Joe Bartenfelder in a statement. “These markets are an important source of income for our farm families, and provide an important link between the state’s urban and rural communities. Buying directly from farmers gives consumers an opportunity to learn more about farming and develop trust in the integrity and accountability of our growers.”

Currently, there are 111 farmers markets across Maryland with five located in Anne Arundel County, according to the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation:

• Anne Arundel County Farmers Market: Riva Rd. & Harry S. Truman Pkwy., Annapolis, May 21 - Sept. 24, Saturdays 7 a.m. to noon, Sundays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesdays 7 a.m. to noon
• Anne Arundel Medical Center: 2001 Medical Parkway South Tower, Lower Level, June 7 – Oct.25, Fridays 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
• Crofton Farmers Market: Crofton Country Club, 1691 Crofton Pkwy., May 1 – Oct. 23, Wednesdays 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
• Piney Orchard: Stream Valley Drive and Rt. 170, Piney Orchard Community & Visitors Center Parking Lot, Odenton, June 5 – Oct. 30 and Nov. 6 – Nov. 27, Wednesdays 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. and noon – 4 p.m.
• Severna Park: Ritchie Hwy (Rt. 2) & Jones Station Rd., April 27 – Oct. 26, Saturdays 8 a.m.- noon
