County First Responders Team Up With Youths In Soapbox Derby

Thirteen youths were paired with emergency professionals in Anne Arundel County for a soapbox derby.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The Anne Arundel County Police Department recently sponsored a soapbox derby for local youth, bolstering relations with the community and having a little fun at the same time. Personnel from the fire and police departments, along with Central Services, worked closely with their respective drivers for more than two months to design and build their 13 entries for the special event.

Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department Captain Glenn A. James was paired with soapbox driver Noah Allen. The duo ended up finishing first out of the 13 entries. Noah won an Xbox for his and Captain James' hard work.
