7 PG County Firefighters Honored with Medals of Valor
Posthumous awardee Lt. John "Skillet" Ulmschneider was shot in the chest during a call in Temple Hills in April 2016. A second Gold Medal of Valor awardee was shot three times during the incident, but survived his injuries after being rushed to the hospital. Two others were recognized for dragging him out of the line of fire at risk to their own lives, and being injured in the process.

Abused Puppy Found In Columbia Gets Adopted: Police
A puppy that police found in a plastic container in Columbia has been adopted, officials say. A staffer took the puppy home with her overnight to ensure he could get medication and care while not at the Howard County animal shelter. "He didn't really get up a lot like a normal puppy would," she said. "As the weeks went on, he got much better. He would wake up in the middle of the night and be like, 'Come play with me! Wake up!'"

Wegmans Joins Recall Of Hash Browns Due To Golf Ball Contamination
The recall of a hash browns brand at Harris Teeter stores last week has expanded to Wegmans stores Thursday. According to the Food and Drug Administration, golf ball materials may have been "inadvertently harvested" with potatoes used to make McCain Foods' frozen hash browns.

Investigators Plead for Public's Help in Solving 5-Alarm College Park Fire
The April 24 fire in College Park caused $39 million in damage to an apartment building under construction. Authorities are still investigating what caused it and are asking for the public to provide any video or images that would help them.
