Sports business is big-business, the "No Purple 12.5 Billion Doubt" sale of the Lakers to the new ownership group led by Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, Kushner is the younger brother of Jared Kushner, the son-in-law to President Donald Trump. The Lakers were just sold this past October '25 to businessman Mark Walter for 10 billion dollars. The team was owned by Jerry & Jeanie Buss for decades dating back to the late 1970's.
The Purple & Gold are one of the most Iconic sports franchises in America and around the world. The NBA's all-time leading-score superstar F Lebron James played 8-seasons with the Lakers winning the NBA Championship in 2020 in the league's quarantine-bubble in Orlando, FL. This past July James informed the team he would become a free-agent. He signed a two-year 8 million dollar deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
This past July the Baltimore Ravens were given a new fan-based motto/ slogan "No Purple Doubt" by The "Charm'tastic Mile" of Baltimore. Both teams (Lakers, Ravens) share their own version of the purple color in their logos for branding/marketing for their franchises. Back in 1996 when the Ravens were having their Inaugural Season in Charm City the Lakers obtained the draft rights to future Laker Icon Kobe Bryant. Bryant was the 13th pick by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Lakers.
He was teamed with superstar C Shaquille O'Neal. The two would form a tandem to win 3-straight NBA Championships from 2000-02. The year 2000 the Ravens would win their 1st (SB-35) of two Super Bowls with the '96 NFL Draft selections of Jonathan Ogden (4th) and Ray Lewis (26th). Ogden and Lewis are both Pro Football Hall of Famers. Shaq wore the color purple in college at LSU and with the Lakers.
