MD Coronavirus Cases Top 10,000; 349 Deaths; 65 Probable Deaths
Newly released data from the Maryland Department of Health shows the number of suspected deaths from the new coronavirus.

MARYLAND — Maryland has confirmed 560 additional cases of the new coronavirus in the past day. More than 10,000 people in the Free State now have tested positive for the virus.
Officials say 10,032 people in Maryland have tested positive for COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the virus, and 349 have died from the disease as of Wednesday, April 15. That is an increase of 47 deaths in the past day.
An additional 65 people may have died from COVID-19, according to state authorities, who began releasing the number of "probable deaths" from the virus Wednesday along with confirmed coronavirus deaths.

A probable death means the death certificate lists COVID-19 as a cause of death, but a laboratory test is still required to confirm it.
Officials say a total of 2,231 people have been hospitalized in Maryland from COVID-19 since the outbreak began, and 607 have been released from isolation.

More than 45,700 people have tested negative for the illness to date, the Maryland Department of Health reported as of Wednesday, April 15.

Symptoms of the virus are shortness of breath, fever and cough. Those who believe they may have the coronavirus can use the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's self checker tool. Currently in Maryland a doctor's order is required to get tested.
