The Baltimore Development Corporation also added two late-August and mid-September virtual "office hours" with city agencies to walk participants through corridor conditions, technical requirements, and how to submit entries.

2. Survey finds Baltimore second nationwide for innovative violence prevention (wbal.com) — Baltimore has been ranked second in the nation for innovative, public health-focused violence prevention strategies, reflecting the city's comprehensive plan and recent crime reductions. City leaders credit partnerships among community groups, hospitals, and law enforcement for a 31% drop in homicides and a 24% decline in non-fatal shootings in 2025, and say the priority now is sustaining that progress.

3. The Billie Holiday Center Presents the 8th Annual Jazz in the Square (baltimoretimes-online.com) — Baltimore residents are invited to a free Billie Holiday Jazz in the Square concert at Lafayette Square Park on Saturday, September 12, from 2–6 p.m. The event features Peabody Conservatory jazz musicians, a WEAA host emcee, and an exhibit on St. James Episcopal Church's abolitionist history and civil-rights legacy in Baltimore City, blending live music with powerful local Black history.

4. Detectives investigate after man found shot, critically injured in northwest Baltimore (foxbaltimore.com) — Baltimore police are investigating after a 47-year-old man was found shot in the upper body Thursday night on the 3400 block of Garrison Boulevard in northwest Baltimore. 5. Baltimore city may close Warren Road Bridge (wbaltv.com) — Baltimore City is warning it may permanently close the Warren Road Bridge amid a funding and ownership standoff with Baltimore County, despite recent inspections finding it still safe to cross. With repair costs estimated at $30 million and federal grants in dispute, county commuters who rely on the bridge daily are voicing frustration while both governments say they're open to renegotiating control of the structure and nearby assets.
