Bel Air Man Burned In Vehicle Fire Outside Home: Investigators
Neighbors pulled a man from his car, which reportedly exploded and burst into flames Thursday.
BEL AIR, MD — A 75-year-old man is in stable condition after his SUV exploded and burst into flames in his driveway Thursday afternoon in Bel Air, officials say. He suffered severe burns, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported.
Neighbors in the 600 block of Mauser Drive said they pulled the man from his 2017 Mazda CX5 around 3:25 p.m.
Investigators said the man lived at the home where the vehicle fire occurred in his driveway, and nobody else was in the vehicle or in the residence.

Firefighters were called for a report of vehicle fire with explosions and contained the blaze so it did not spread to the house, according to the fire marshal.

The Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company treated the man for his injuries, and he was helicoptered to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for medical care, where authorities said he was stable.
The cause and origin of the blaze remain under investigation, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported late Thursday night.
