Best Holiday Lights In Maryland For 2019

Here's where to find the best holiday lights in the Maryland, according to Patch readers.

MARYLAND — From the brightest block in Baltimore to decked-out dead-end streets to a. dazzling display on the Chesapeake Bay, here are the best holiday light shows shared with us around Maryland.

Lights On The Bay

  • Sandy Point State Park, 1100 E. College Pkwy., Annapolis
  • Open 5–10 p.m. through Jan. 1
  • The 2-mile drive in the park on the Chesapeake Bay features 60 displays.
  • Tickets are $15 per car, $28 per large van and mini-bus and $50 per bus. Proceeds benefit the SPCA of Anne Arundel County.

Miracle On 34th Street In Hampden: Time, Parking, Lights

  • 720 West 34th Street, Baltimore
  • 5:30 to 11 p.m. nightly. Lights stay all night on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Cedar Lane Spectacular Christmas Light Show

  • 1111 Cedar Lane, Bel Air
  • 6:30–10 p.m. from Dec. 1–Dec. 31
  • Tune in to 107.9 FM to get in sync with the show.

Kurtz Christmas Light Show

  • 1205 Corinthian Court, Bel Air
  • 5–10 p.m. daily through Dec. 31

Light Show At Bel Air Home Spans Front And Back Yards

Spencer Family Holiday Lights

  • 3107 Nova Scotia Road, Bel Air
  • 6 p.m. to midnight daily
  • The show has about 2,000 lights; a 30-foot mega tree; over 120 blow molds; and more.



St. Matthew Lutheran Church

  • 1200 E Churchville Rd, Bel Air
  • 6–10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 6–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • A train garden is open inside the church on the weekends (Friday to Sunday).

The Wright Lights of Catonsville

  • 2804 Nine Mile Circle, Catonsville
  • 6–10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 6–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • New this year is the Maryland crab trap Christmas tree

Symphony of Lights

  • 10475 Little Patuxent Pkwy., Columbia
  • 6–10 p.m. weekdays and 5–10 p.m. weekends. Closed to cars Dec. 31 for Midnight at 7 event with fireworks.
  • This roughly 1-mile route around Merriweather Post Pavilion features 100 light displays and visitors can set their radio to tune in to the holiday music soundtrack.
  • Tickets are $20. The annual spectacle is a fundraiser for the Howard Hospital Foundation.

Holiday Light Display In Ellicott City Draws Numerous Visitors

  • 4630 Sheppard Manor Drive, Ellicott City
  • 5–11 p.m.

Sailing Through The Winter Solstice

  • Carroll Creek Park, Frederick (between Market and Carrol streets)
  • The display of 18 decorated sailboats is up through February 2020.


Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival

  • Seneca Creek State Park, 11950 Clopper Rd., Gaithersburg
  • 6 - 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 6 - 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Closed Christmas.
  • There's a 3.5-mile ride through the lights.
  • Tickets range from $12 to $30 based on day and vehicle type.



Nottingham Christmas Lights

  • 5–10 p.m. nightly

Parkville Display Is Inspired By "Christmas Vacation"

  • 2304 Putty Hill Avenue, Parkville
  • The display is based on several scenes from the classic movie "Christmas Vacation," such as Clark Griswold hanging from the roof, Uncle Eddie emptying his RV's waste tank, the dog chasing the squirrel into the Christmas tree, and the SWAT team arriving and crashing through the window.

Music Plays A Big Part In Beautiful Severn Holiday Light Display

  • 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • Tune in to 88.3 FM to hear the music.
  • The Lights at Elmhurst is on Facebook as well.



Musical Light Display In Severna Park Prompts Some To Sing Along

  • 7 Woodbent Dr., Severna Park
  • 5:30–10 p.m. Monday to Thursday; and 5:30–11 p.m. Friday to Sunday through Jan. 5
  • The songs tell a story; tune in on 91.1 FM.

Garden Of Lights At Brookside Gardens

  • 1800 Glenallan Ave., Wheaton
  • Hours are 5:30–9 p.m. Dec. 22–23, Dec. 26, Dec. 29–31; and 5:30–10 p.m. Dec. 27–28
  • The show, hosted by Montgomery County Parks, is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
  • Drive in and walk through the gardens. Plan for an hour of walking. There's live music too.
  • Admission is $25 per car Sunday to Thursday and $30 Friday and Saturday.



Festival Of Lights In PG County

  • Watkins Regional Park, 301 Watkins Park Dr., Upper Marlboro
  • 5–9:30 p.m. nightly through Jan 1, 2020
  • This part is transformed with 1 million LEDs.
  • Tickets are $10 for a car or van. On Christmas Day, the festival is free.
  • Bring canned good donations for local food banks.
