Donations Pour in to Family That Lost Home to Fire
After a family of four lost a home and four pets Thursday, the community is stepping in to support them.

Members of the family that lost four pets during a fire this week say they are donating money raised through a GoFundMe account to the Humane Society of Harford County.
“Normally we would not ask for anything and would prefer to be the givers; it’s very difficult for us to accept help,” the family wrote on the GoFundMe page. “But someone explained to me today that people want to help, need to help and we need to open ourselves up to that now. We will need things after all. We need everything! Frankly, I don’t even know where to begin.”
The fire at their home in the 2600 block of Cool Spring Road left $250,000 in damage Thursday, according to the fire marshal. It started in the kitchen and took an hour to put out, the fire marshal reported.

The online donation page established for the family raised more than $2,000 within 24 hours, and the family said it is donating the funds to the Humane Society of Harford County to purchase two benches.
