'House of Cards' Films on Main Street in Bel Air

Bel Air got a front-row seat to the filming of Netflix drama 'House of Cards' Friday night.

BEL AIR, MD — Citizens of Bel Air watched the making of a TV show Friday night, as the creators of "House of Cards" filmed along Main Street.

The Bel Air Police Department reported that all went "efficiently," with bystanders able to look on as the cast and crew of the Netflix drama shot scenes downtown, where Main Street was closed between Churchville Road and Courtland Street starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hickory garage and two parking lots — one on Hickory Avenue near the library, another at the corner of Churchville Road and Main Street — were also included in the filming.

"The 'House of Cards' shoot is a wrap," the Bel Air Police Department reported around midnight. "Main Street is now open between Churchville Road and Courtland Street. I'm very proud of the performance of the BAPD, Bel Air DPW and Harford County DPW, in efficiently closing the roadway; making sure our citizens were properly notified before the event; and providing a safe environment for citizens needing to detour around the closure and for the filming crew and casts. The filming event was also safely enjoyed by many citizens who were allowed to watch on the sidelines."
