Deputies initially responded to a report of shots fired around 2:15 p.m. near Cedar Drive at Harr Park Court, officials said. During that call, they learned of a crash nearby.

Firefighters said the crash involving two trucks occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the 6200 block of Baker Circle.

The shooting victim was trapped in critical condition, and crews rescued him using the jaws of life, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.

The victim was flown to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the lower body, according to the sheriff's office. He underwent surgery at shock trauma, Davis said.

The victim had been driving a pickup truck that crashed into an unoccupied, parked tractor-trailer, Davis said. He told reporters it was not clear in which order the shooting and crash occurred and said authorities were still investigating.

After receiving information that someone involved in the case may be in a residence in the 600 block of Harr Park Court, the special response team was called in, the sheriff's office reported. Baltimore County provided an armored vehicle to assist as well, Davis said, out of an abundance of caution.

Several young people were safely removed from the residence; and after tactical officers tried to contact anyone else who may be inside, the SWAT team entered at 6:59 p.m. and found the residence was unoccupied, the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Seth Culver of the Harford County Sheriff's Office at 443-409-3498.
