Edgewood Townhouse Fire Caused $20K In Damage: Officials
Firefighters handled a residential blaze in Edgewood Sunday night that the fire marshal said is still under investigation.

EDGEWOOD, MD — Firefighters battled a townhouse fire Sunday night in Edgewood that investigators say started in a bedroom. Crews who were first at the scene said they saw smoke showing from the two-story townhome when they arrived.
The fire in the 800 block of Olive Branch Court was reported around 6:50 p.m. by the people who lived there.
Firefighters were battling the blaze from inside the townhouse, and more crews were en route, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported before 7 p.m.

It took crews about 20 minutes to control the fire, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Officials estimated there was $10,000 in structural damage to the two-story, middle-of-the-group townhouse; and $10,000 worth of items inside were lost as well.

While the fire marshal said the origin of the fire was a bedroom on the second floor, the cause of the blaze remained under investigation as of Monday morning.
