In Tribute to Slain Harford Deputies, Edgewood American Legion Reopens

The Patrick Dailey-Mark Logsdon Memorial Post 17 salutes two Harford County sheriff's deputies who died in the line of duty.

EDGEWOOD, MD — American Legion Post 17 reopened over the weekend with a new name.

The Edgewood post, which underwent renovations during an extended closure, is now known as "Patrick Dailey-Mark Logsdon Memorial Post 17," for the two Harford County sheriff's deputies who died in the line of duty in February.

The Edgewood post closed in February 2010 when its roof collapsed under the snow of Snowmageddon.

Afterward, the organization was reportedly tied up in court trying to get insurance coverage for the repairs.

More than six years after the monumental snowstorm, the legion officially reopened on Saturday as the "Patrick Dailey-Mark Logsdon Memorial Post 17."

"It is very touching," Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler told ABC 2 News of the dedication. "Both of them served our country."

Dailey, 52, was a former Marine and Logsdon, 43, had been in the U.S. Army.

In addition, Logsdon was a member of the American Legion Post 17.

Memorials have been established elsewhere in the county to pay tribute to the officers, who were fatally shot while responding to a call about a wanted man at the Abingdon Panera on Feb. 10. A stretch of MD 924 was designated "Heroes Highway" by state and local officials over the summer.
