4 Bethesda-Chevy Chase Students Sent to Hospital: Officials
Emergency medical crews treated five Bethesda-Chevy Chase HS students, four of whom were sent to hospitals, possibly for taking Xanax.

BETHESDA, MD — Five students at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School were checked by emergency medical personnel after they took a substance that may have been the anti-anxiety drug, Xanax, authorities say.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Crews were called to the school at 301 East West Hwy. about 2 p.m., according to spokesman Pete Piringer. Crews evaluated five students, four of whom were taken to an area hospital for evaluation, and one teen was released to a guardian.
Montgomery County Police suspect the students took Xanax, which is prescribed to fight anxiety and panic disorders, reports WTOP. Authorities have not said if the students knowingly took the drug.
