BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE, MD - From AMP by Strathmore: October at AMP opens with a rare treat—ambassador of the Great American Songbook Michael Feinstein playing an intimate set to kick off a new yearlong partnership with Strathmore. The month doesn't slow down from there, with two sets by pop singer Lisa Loeb, the first in a trio of nostalgia-driven concerts by female singer-songwriters that include Paula Cole and Nellie McKay. Homegrown comedians Kevin Lee and Washington Post Date Lab contributor Vijai Nathan bring local flavor to their AMP Comedy Night sets, while Adam Dodd and Will Jacobs create hilarious mash-ups by combining comedy with interests in acoustic music and law. From different sonic worlds but masters of their instruments, Martin Barre, lead guitarist of legendary progressive rock band Jethro Tull, and jazz pianist Harold López-Nussa perform masterful sets. The month also features the sounds of famous brother duos, with a performance of impeccable bluegrass by The Gibson Brothers, followed by a tribute to the iconic band that revolutionized pop music in The Everly Brothers Experience.
