Bethesda Music Teacher Charged With Possessing Child Porn: Police

BETHESDA, MD — A music teacher from Bethesda was arrested on Thursday after authorities found child pornography at his residence, Maryland State Police said.

Charles Victor Kopfstein-Penk, 74, was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography, according to authorities.

The Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force launched an online investigation involving the possession of child pornography in February. Officials said they noticed an individual actively pursuing child pornography files online. They later determined that the person trying to get those files was Kopfstein-Penk.

At about 5:10 a.m. on Thursday, the Maryland State Police and Homeland Security investigators showed up at Kopfstein-Penk's Bethesda home. A search of his residence turned up electronic devices containing child pornography files, according to authorities.

Kopfstein-Penk was arrested without incident.

Authorities say the devices will be analyzed by the Maryland State Police Digital Forensics Laboratory. It is unclear if Kopfstein-Penk has a relationship with any of the victims.

According to police, Kopfstein-Penk is a music teacher and gives lessons to people of all ages from his Bethesda home.
