Bank Robbery Suspect Captured on Camera

This marks the second bank robbery in just two days in Montgomery County.

Update, 1:25 p.m.: The suspect in this morning's robbery at the on Bethesda Avenue was captured on the bank’s surveillance system, according to a Montgomery County police media release.

At 10:05 a.m., police responded to the robbery at 4708 Bethesda Ave. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank and waited to be assisted by a teller, police said.

The suspect passed a note to the teller implying he had a weapon and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male about 30 years old, 175 pounds, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with black hair that has a gray spot, and a mustache and goatee, police said.

Anyone who may have information about this bank robbery or recognizes the suspect from the surveillance photograph is asked to call the Major Crimes Division-Robbery Section at 240-773-5103.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.

Original post, 11 a.m.: The at 4708 Bethesda Ave. was robbed this morning, marking the in Montgomery County, Officer Rebecca Innocenti, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman, confirmed. 

Police said that the suspect implied that he was carrying a weapon, but it was not seen. 

The emergency call was placed at 10:05 a.m. Police are on the scene.
