Bid. Call. Honor. New Suit. Grand Slam. Welcome to the world of Bridge! On May 4th, the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (CCACC) held a Bridge tournament, creating the perfect opportunity for Bridge players to come out and enjoy the game. There were a total of 16 teams comprised of both skilled players and beginners. After a strenuous 4 hours in which there were 24 games, the tournament finally came to an end.
The competition was split into two groups: North-South and East-West. The first place winner from the North-South division was World Bridge champion, Hailong Ao and his partner Huailin Chen. Second place went to DMV’s skilled bridge players Jingfang Wang and Hongtao Ma, and third place went to father-son duo Sam and Vincent Shu.
From the East-West division, first place went to Hongmo Wang and Yizhong Fan, the highest scorer of the entire competition with 120.5 points. Second place was given to Shuigen Xiao and Xinguo Chen, and third place went to Yuliang Bai and Jialin Tao for whom it was their first Chinese Bridge Competition.

After awards were given out, the players got to enjoy delicious food, connect with each other, and talk about bridge. After dinner, there were more friendly games for the players to continue enjoying this game of strategy and concentration. All participants received a book written and autographed by Jianjian Wang on modern bidding strategy.
Bridge is an entertaining game that involves competition, strategy, and quick-thinking. Someone once compared bridge to other strategy games such as mahjong and chess, claiming that there are no friends, only enemies, once the game starts. However, bridge is different. It reveals the nuances of human nature, and if someone is skilled enough they can manipulate other players to help them win. Recently, many players have become more interested in participating in bridge tournaments. This was the first Chinese-organized Bridge Tournament in the DMV, and the event was a success with close to 70 people attending.

The DMV is filled with secretly talented players, many of whom have created a name for themselves in the world of Bridge. Not only are these talented players highly skilled in the art of Bridge, but they are also willing to dedicate their time to hold seminars. The success of this event can be attributed to the many people who volunteered and dedicated their time and efforts to this tournament.
