Local resident joins national architecture/engineering firm

Bryan Cannon Joins HGA Architects and Engineers in Washington D.C.

HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA), known for the expertise and impact of its design in healthcare, science and technology across the U.S., is pleased to announce Bryan Cannon, AIA, has joined the firm’s Washington D.C. office as a design principal.

Cannon brings an outstanding portfolio of high-impact spaces for scientific research, STEM education and cancer treatment. His clients have included Emory University, The Johns Hopkins University, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, University of Virginia Health System and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Cannon’s national design leadership and architectural expertise in signature research, science and technology buildings for distinguished academic institutions, healthcare organizations and the U.S. government will further enhance HGA’s presence in these industries.

Cannon’s work has earned architectural design awards from the American Institute of Architects’ Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Pennsylvania chapters; an Urban Land Institute Award; and a Gala Verde Award from the U.S. Green Building Council, South Florida Chapter. He is a frequent convener, presenter and workshop facilitator for the Society of College and University Planning (SCUP) and Learning Spaces Collaboratory. He also has substantial experience leading the design of high performance facilities, and a strong track record in mentorship and development of design culture within dynamic offices.

“I love the programmatic rigor and specialist intensity required in the development and design of science, technology and healthcare projects,” Cannon says. “The clients for these projects are brilliant professionals who understand their work very well. It’s tremendously gratifying to design a building that answers their call to represent their professionalism and mission-driven values, while enhancing the critical work they do. Cannon earned his B.A. with honors from Williams College and his Master of Architecture from Princeton University. He joins HGA having worked with ZGF Architects, KieranTimberlake, and Venturi Scott Brown & Associates.
